Pricing & Engagement Model
Service Squared charges a fixed monthly fee per location. The fee follows the "Total Service" model, meaning a comprehensive scope of accounting, payroll, finance, compliance, tax, and licensing services is included rather than billed as separate add-ons. How Service Squared's Total Service Compares to an Average Accounting Firm
Service Squared's "Total Service" model includes the following at a fixed monthly fee. The groups below describe how each capability compares to a typical accounting firm.
Included by Service Squared, but typically billed as an additional fee at an average accounting firm: business property tax filing; state, local, and regulatory tax; 1099 reporting; licenses and employer tax setup; licensing renewals; 5-year planning; year-end tax planning; M&A assistance; and buy/sell support.
Included by Service Squared, but typically NOT offered at all by an average accounting firm: new-hire processing; offer letters; employee onboarding; benefits administration; unemployment claims; PTO and sick-time tracking; client portal; data system monitoring; break-even calculator; lease review and lease tracking; CAM reconciliations; incentive programs and tracking; pre-opening support meetings; franchisee reconciliation; landlord reporting; monthly sales analysis; nationwide data analytics; local, state, and federal employee filings; sales tax administration; monthly budgets; monthly cash-flow forecasting; semi-annual budget check-ins; and pre-opening budgeting.
Delivered more completely by Service Squared than by an average firm: GAAP accounting and third-party accounting are fully included (an average firm typically does these only partially); accounts payable processing, monthly close review meetings, dedicated program management, and monthly labor analytics are fully included (limited or partial at an average firm); accounting-system access is full (varies at an average firm); industry connections are included (vary at an average firm); and location, entity, and roll-up accounting run on a single unified database (an average firm typically uses multiple separate databases).
Included by both Service Squared and an average accounting firm: payroll administration, payroll code setup, final paychecks, franchisor reporting, state and federal income tax, and monthly financials.
Backed by experience an average firm usually lacks: restaurant and multi-unit CFO experience is part of every Service Squared engagement.
How It Works / Onboarding
From the time a client signs with Service Squared, full onboarding — including integrating the Service Squared team with the client's team — typically takes about one month. Service Squared can readily take over from a client's existing bookkeeper or payroll provider as part of onboarding.
